Our open house was such fun! The food was delicious and prepared with love. The biggest compliment was a recurring one..."What a wonderful group of women!" Lucky for us, those are our customers!
Have a restful, peaceful holiday. Do something that helps someone and you will feel the joy of the season. May 2012 be good and kind to us all, and may we be good and kind to one another!

Market was fun!

Market report....VandM rocked....with an incredibly bright future just ahead. It just gets better and better! The Antique and Design center was the most exciting thing there...Hooray for Karen Luisana! The Clayton Oxford showroom had two new pieces to die for thanks to their wonderful designer and support, Trish and Scott. Roberta Schilling wowed in her new space (she is pretty wow herself!) and (drum roll, please...) Serge de Troyer was hands down the best collection again! Bravo! Thanks for introducing me to Thumprints, our new lamp line!
Love, Love!

InsideOut Home and Garden is launching!

Our new name is here! InsideOut Home and Garden. We love our outdoor spaces and have added to our family with Carolyn Carr of Vessel joining the fun. Carolyn has littered the parking lot and decorated the store and totally transformed the front of our shop with her gorgeous handmade clay pottery.
Philip showed up, worked the magic and no one can say anything except for "WOW!" We look good! Really good. You can, too. Let us help.
Our new website will be taking off in October at the same time as our name change. We are sprucing up in time for the holidays...that's a another story! But first the name change, next the art show, then the holidays!

knock offs
I often see knock offs of original designs and my heart drops. I believe in paying people for their creativity and their efforts. Most of us don't even know if it is a knock off! Take the time and educate yourself. Read, look online if you must. Granted we can't all afford an original Van Gogh, but you can certainly strive for the best.
Once you see, touch, and experience the real thing, you'll know. Then if a "bargain" gets the better of you, remember, there is an attorney waiting in the wings and you have just been part of a crime, of the intellectual kind. Our resources are exploited and so are our imaginations.
Please buy local and please look for the real thing!

HOME CHIC HOME
Home is all about sanctuary, not chaos. I know that my home is my refuge and when my house is in order, my world is better. My work is easier and life is a much smoother journey.
I cannot stress how important it is to organize your home. Once you've done that, the overwhelming desire to ignore that mountain of laundry and paperwork subsides. You feel confident that you can handle whatever.
After the "great clean", look for luxury items. Pieces of art and treasures that enhance your environment and add value to your home. Things that interest you. Maybe a wild chair that is sculptural or whimsical! A fabulous mirror or chandeleir that bounces light around the room. A wonderful painting that evokes a strong emotion. While you are debating what that fabulous new piece should be, enjoy the look. Browse your local shops and find out the story behind your favorite new item. Take it home and be chic!

Living Social likes us!
If you take time to join Living Social, You'll find a nice little surprise on Wednesday, April 27! Enjoy!
Our website is updated, market purchases are arriving and Spring is in full bloom! The garden's are tilled, planted and watered. New beauties abound.
Clean fresh linens are a great next step...lighten up and pop some fresh, white luxurious linens on that bed. Hint: Percale is a sturdy weave, and you can still get that high thread count! Is percale Turkish or French? I've heard both claim it. HUMM?
Bring a little green inside. Edit those out dated accessories that you don't really love and that don't really compliment your surroundings.
Buy some local, original art! You can't go wrong!

Wunderley Imports
Our Story
Part of the pleasure of travel is finding unique things that reflect the beauty of another culture. On a trip to Morocco in the early '90's, Glenn and Ellen Wunderley discovered classically beautiful wood boxes fashioned in tiny shops. These boxes, and the burled Thuja wood they were made from were so exquisite that we believed that people in the U.S., who would never have an opportunity to travel to Morocco to appreciate them, would be interested in purchasing them if they were available here.
For this reason, we formed Wunderley Imports. Since that time, we have made many additional trips to this exotic land where the souks are filled with artisans working with the most basic materials and tools. The art they create reflects the beauty of a culture that Europe knew as the Moors in Spain - a culture rich in Islamic art as it melded with other ideas at this crossroads of Africa, Arabia and Europe. We were fascinated by the ability of a poor people to create beauty from what we in America would consider nothing. We were happy to work with hardworking craftspeople to encourage quality control and to introduce some of their products and culture to the American market. This culture includes classic Moorish pottery designs, Moroccan tea accessories, henna designs and items fashioned of camel bone.
Our travels also led us to other treasures of the Mediterranean region that we had not seen in this country. In Damascus, another ancient crossroads, we found artisans skilled in the old art of Intarsia, or inlay of fine wood, shell and mother-of-pearl in wood boxes and furniture, as well as Damask and Damascene silk brocade.
It is our pleasure to continue our search for fine products new to the U.S. market. We receive personal satisfaction by being able to offer an outlet to a number of superb craftspeople. But, when we chose to put our name on the company, we made a commitment to quality, value and customer satisfaction. We are proud to stand behind our name, knowing that it stands for uniquely beautiful products and your satisfied customer.

NC Home sweet home!
Thank you to everyone at the installation housewarming. We should all have friends like that! HGTV eat your heart out.
JP and David, cudos on the headboards, chandeliers, shower curtains and wall brackets. What expertise and patience! Doreen, Pam and Leigh Anne, you are the best. Part of a successful house is the cleaning and taping and hauling and fluffing and making beds and on and on! Bygie and Mandy, the painting was perfect as was the "I Dream of Jeannies"! John, thanks for the muling and lifting and all around support. Anna the homemade soup was the best! Not to mention your endless energy!
Gin, thank you for trusting us to fill your home with beautiful things from our shop. Your mom's rehabilitated sofa and chair are incredible! The artwork is fabulous and Rick did a wonderful job on the cornices and drapery installations.
Gin, your eye is much better than you think. Now that your home is set, you'll be surprised how you settle into your style and know it when you see it! Enjoy your new home. It was filled with more love in one weekend than most homes after years of weekends!
